What's new at MDLUG and MDLUG.org? Saturday November 15, 2008 The MDLUG Presentation pages have been updated. Notes for Raymond McLaughlin's Presentation on the Unix commands 'less' and 'more' was added and html blurbs for Mat Enders' Billix presentation and Mary Tomich's GRUB presentation were added. See our presentations page for the details. Tuesday October 21, 2008 What's new at MDLUG.org? Well for one thing, this "What's new?" page is new. Previously we had an "Announcements" page, and a separate "News" page. They were largely, but not entirely duplicates of each other, which made keeping them up to date more of a chore. And, usually, they were both badly out of date. Although that arrangement (some how) made sense at one time, it didn't work out as envisioned. So from now on there will just be this one page. Here's hoping we can keep it up to date! Monday October 20, 2008 MDLUG's "Projects and Presentations" page has been split into seperate a "Projects" page and "Presentations" page. This was precipitated by the addition of a second item in the "Projects" catagory. recruitment. Spring 2008 (back dated) The last several members of the Downriver Commodor Group (DCG, dba Downriver Computer Group) have begun regularly attending MDLUG meetings. They (DCG) have waived their dues requirement for membership. Further, when they have resolved to consider their attendance at our meetings to be concurrent DCG meeting. They invite anyone who want's to be considered a DCG member to sign their attendance sheet. This is to help them maintain their highly desirable 501 (c)(3) status. In order to accommodate them, MDLUG has added a new mailing list MDLUG-retro. Welcome to Mike, and Tony, and Rusty. Gary has been with us a while. Ray and Mat were known to attend meetings of the old DCG. Sunday February 11, 2007 Due to a scheduling conflict the March 2007 meeting of MDLUG will be held on the third, rather than the second, Saturday: March 17. The time of day and location remain unchanged. We are still looking for a presenter, if anyone wants to volunteer please let us know. For more information please see our contacts page. Sunday November 19, 2006 After months of preperation, in our spare time, MDLUG has moved it's web site and mailing lists to a new server. The web site (you are reading it here) is up and running. The mailing lists are functioning and being watched for malfunctions. Each running mailing list generates its own archive which is available from its information page on the web site. The old mailing list archives have been copied over to the new server, and will be made available via our mailing lists page. A special thanks to Rich Clark, who set up the mail server, configured the spam filtering, and helped with general trouble shooting; to Joe Landman, who's custom "danger" script (hopefully) keeps our server a step ahead of the script kiddies; and to Jay Nugent, without who's power switch pressing abilities (he does a mean Ctrl+Alt+Del too) none of this would have been possible. Saturday November 11, 2006 Secretary David Lee Lambert, and Treasurer Dean Durant, have each informed us that they are no longer able to fulfill the duties of their offices, and have offered their resignations. Thes positions will go unfilled until the next elections in January. New member David C. Lane has offered to be acting secretary for the remainder of the year, so it looks like the minutes and presentation listings on the secretary's page might get updated yet. Monday Feb 6, 2006 MDLUG has lost our venue at St. Mary's. It's nothing we did, they just got new administrators with different ideas... so we're out. Starting Saturday, Feb 11 we will be meeting at a new location, the Gaudior Academy 27100 Avondale Inkster MI 48141 Saturday January 14, 2006: In accordance with the MDLUG bylaws, the following officers were elected at the annual membership meeting, held Saturday January 14 2006, at Adam Cardinal Maida Alumni Library on the campus of the Saint Mary's Preparatory School in Orchard Lake.

Monday November 1, 2005: MDLUG has a new meeting place: The Adam Cardinal Maida Alumni Library 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake MI This is on the campus of St. Mary's Preparatory School. Friday October 7, 2005: The Roseville Theatre is under new ownership. MDLUG meetings there have been canceled as of today, NO Oct. meeting.
So MDLUG is looking for a new meeting place, again. |
