XF86Config

At initialization, most X servers and many X clients search a list of directories, called a FontPath.

bash> grep '\(Load\)\|\(FontPath\)' /etc/X11/XF86Config FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/latin2/Type1/" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/" FontPath "/usr/share/ghostscript/fonts/" Load "speedo" Load "type1" Load "freetype"

Like most unix daemons, most X servers can also add font directories dynamically.

bash> /etc/init.d/xdm restart -or- bash> xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/
