enguicon is an annual Detroit area event that combines the features of a
Science Fiction convention with those of a Linux convention. A weekend of fun, fantasy, and free software!
Although MDLUG has no official affiliation with this years Penguicon many of our members will be attending, some of them participating as presenters and other volunteers.
As of the week before the Con, volunteers are still being sought for the computer lounge. Needed volunteers include both techies, and "minders" to keep an eye on the place. Volunteers who work sufficient hours may be reimbursed for their registration. Please see the current schedule here. Also, set up will start at 9:00 AM Fri, which is usually a "many hands make work light" kind of deal, though "staying out of the way" skills are also handy in some situations. :) Those wishing to volunteer should contact the lounge coordinator Chick Tower, c.e.tower(at)gmail.com. Monroe County LUG co-conspirator Dan DeSloover is this year's Penguicon lug-wrangler. He has produced a presentation, available in several formats, describing past Penguicons and outlining some of the attractions of this year's.
