Sunday February 11, 2007 Due to a scheduling conflict the March 2007 meeting of MDLUG will be held on the third, rather than the second, Saturday: March 17. The time of day and location remain unchanged.
We are still looking for a presenter, if anyone wants to volunteer please let us know.

Sunday November 19, 2006 After months of preperation, in our spare time, MDLUG has moved it's web site and mailing lists to a new server. The web site (you are reading it here) is up and running. The mailing lists are functioning and being watched for malfunctions. Each running mailing list generates its own archive which is available from its information page on the web site. The old mailing list archives have been copied over to the new server, and will be made available via our mailing lists page.

A special thanks to Rich Clark, who set up the mail server, configured the spam filtering, and helped with general trouble shooting; to Joe Landman, who's custom "danger" script (hopefully) keeps our server a step ahead of the script kiddies; and to Jay Nugent, without who's power switch pressing abilities (he does a mean Ctrl+Alt+Del too) none of this would have been possible.


Saturday November 11, 2006
Secretary David Lee Lambert, and Treasurer Dean Durant, have each informed us that they are no longer able to fulfill the duties of their offices, and have offered their resignations. Thes positions will go unfilled until the next elections in January. New member David C. Lane has offered to be acting secretary for the remainder of the year, so it looks like the minutes and presentation listings on the secretary's page might get updated yet.

MDLUG has lost our venue at St. Mary's. It's nothing we did, they just got new administrators with different ideas... so we're out.
Starting Saturday, Feb 11 we will be meeting at a new location, the Gaudior Academy 27100 Avondale Inkster MI 48141

MDLUG has a new meeting place:
The Adam Cardinal Maida Alumni Library
3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake MI
This is on the campus of St. Mary's Preparatory School.


Friday October 7, 2005:
The Roseville Theatre is under new ownership.
MDLUG meetings there have been canceled as of today,
NO Oct. meeting.

Time line:
Sept 2005

Contacted Roseville Theatre owner, John Kurczak, and informed him that the Sept meeting would be elsewhere (Install fest at OU). Confirmed intent to meet Oct 8.
Tue, Oct 4 Sent John email reminding him of planned meeting 10/8

Having gotten no confirmation or other response, called John. He informed me that he had sold building... long digression about buying another building...plan fell through... blah blah
Upshot: a Church (Calvary Chapel Macomb FWIW) had a lease on the facility, maybe they would allow us to use it.

Called church phone, spoke to pastor's wife, explained situation. She said she would talk to her husband a see what they could do.
~1:45

Pastor's wife called back. Said that she and her husband approved and, considering the situation, they would let us meet there, for tomorrow (10/08) anyways.

Pastor's wife called my cell phone (I was at grocery store) and informed me that they had checked with new owner of building - John did not so much sell as lost it to foreclosure. New management company does not want anyone on premises without a lease. Sorry no MDLUG. I thanked them for trying, and dashed home to get announcement out.

It's too late to try to make any other formal plans. I'll be there tomorrow to put up notices for people who show up. May end up going to Pannera if there's enough interest.

So MDLUG is looking for a new meeting place, again.
